Company Background

Since the 70's, German Pool has already partnered with a Germany company to design and develop a wide range of home appliances. German Pool strives to make use of top notch German technology and high quality European-made parts and components when designing new products.

In 1982, German Pool (Hong Kong) Limited was officially founded in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, having collaborated with German companies in research and development, German Pool introduced its first generation of storage water heaters. Since then, German Pool has become the industry leader in the water heater market in Hong Kong. The Company not only offers over 10 different types of storage water heaters, German-imported instantaneous electric and gas water heaters, it is also a pioneer in importing solar water heating systems from Australia.

Starting from the 1990’s, German Pool diversified its business into developing a variety of home appliances. In 2000, the company opened its first kitchen cabinet and electrical appliance showroom. It was the first of its kind in Hong Kong, providing customers a one-stop shopping experience. Today, German Pool has nearly 1000 retail outlets in Hong Kong, including major electrical appliance chain stores and department stores. The Company also works closely with power companies, real estate developers and the Hong Kong Government.
After over 40 years of success, German Pool emerges as an international corporation strong in product design, manufacturing, sales and marketing, as well as international import and export. German Pool is now one of the most influential players in the home appliance industry in Hong Kong.

German Pool shares the same mindset with German experts who put great emphasis when it comes to product design, technological innovation and safety. German Pool plays an active role in designing innovative products and is very serious about quality control. Apart from selling German-made/ designed water heaters, German Pool partners with engineers and product designers in developing its own home electrical appliances, which include a wide range of kitchen, seasonal appliances and health care products.

To cope with the rising demand of "One Stop Shop Service", German Pool launched its first Kitchen Appliances & Cabinetry Concept Store in Wan Chai in 2000. Other than selling German Pool's complete line of kitchen electrical appliances and kitchen cabinetry, the Company provides a wide range of Europe-made innovative built-in kitchen appliances, imported kitchen cabinetry materials and kitchen accessories. German Pool now has 6 Kitchen Appliances & Cabinetry Showrooms in Hong Kong, Macao & the Guangdong area.

With over 20 years of expertise in water heaters, German Pool works closely with leading manufacturers from Germany and Australia to provide professional water heating solutions. As the exclusive distributor of renowned brands such as Clage (Germany), Zip Water (Australia) and Solahart (Australia), the company offers a complete range of products for both residential and commercial users in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Founder

Mr. Edward Kwok Man Chan

Mr. Edward Kwok Man Chan is the founder of German Pool. Since 1975, he has devoted his energy to the manufacturing industry. In 1982, Mr. Chan partnered with a German company and launched German Pool (Hong Kong) Limited. Mr. Chan has continued to build a successful water heater business in Hong Kong since then.

From product inception to design, and from production to sales, quality has always been a priority in Mr. Edward Chan's mind. He expanded his business and has developed a comprehensive product line for the kitchen appliances and cabinetry market. Under his leadership, German Pool owns a number of patented products with award-winning designs.

In 2005, Mr. Edward Chan is awarded Honorary Doctorate by Armstrong University in the United States. The same year, he received the World Most Outstanding Chinese Award from the United World Chinese Association. Mr. Chan was then awarded Honorary Fellowship by the Professional Validation Council of HK Industries in 2006. In 2007, he was named as one of the "Top 10 Talents". Later in 2011, he was conferred with Industrial Fellow by the School of Manufacturing Engineering, University of Warwick (UK), followed by the HK Polytechnic University Fellowship and Honorary Fellowship of Greater Bay Area in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Most recently in 2025, Dr. Edward Chan received the “HK Distinguished Brand Leader” award from the HK Brand Development Council. His contributions were widely recognized in both society and the industry.
