Exclusive Bloomberg Interview with German Pool Founder & His Daughter
German Pool welcomed Bloomberg’s seasoned broadcaster, Mr John Dawson, on his visit to German Pool’s Hong Kong headquarters to film an exclusive interview with the company’s founder, Dr Edward Chan, and his daughter, the company’s executive director Ms Karen Chan.
The interview has been centred around “The Family Business”, “The Legacy of German Pool”, “Edward Chan’s Vision for the Company”, and “Karen Chan’s Stance on the Family Business”.
The interview has been aired four times (at 07:30am, 08:50am, 09:30am, and 10:21am, on Sep 15, 2014) on the Bloomberg Asia channel, and the clip is now available on Bloomberg TV.
On live television, the Bloomberg broadcasters introduced the video clip: “Appliance maker German Pool is facing stiff competition, but a blend of east and west may just give it an extra edge.”
In the interview, Dr Edward Chan had a heart to heart with Bloomberg’s Dawson, revealing his innermost thoughts for the German Pool: “I love my business, I am proud of my business. I won’t be selling my business. No, never.”
Dawson then went on to introduce the legacy of German Pool, introducing the burgeoning series appliances that German Pool now offers to customers. There are Halogen Cooking Pot – aka the Portable Oven, the Professional High-Speed Food Processors, Healthcare Products, Houseware, Built-In Appliances, and The Sparkle Collection Limited Edition Food Processor, embellished with 15,000 crystals.
John Dawson then joined Dr Edward Chan and Ms Karen Chan in German Pool’s brand new Culinary Experience Centre, where Ms Chan – the winner of Young Industrialist of Hong Kong – shared her thoughts about the family business.
Bloomberg’s Dawson ended the interview with this summary: “German Pool, a recipe built on water heaters, with a very strong portion of appliances, and of course flavoured by that lifestyle experience and a company motto of Life Made Simpler and washed down with what could be a very imminent IPO.”
