Food for Good is a non-profit-organization founded by Mrs Regina C.Y. Leung, wife of the Chief Executive of the HKSAR. Food for Good campaigns against food waste, and works with non-governmental organisations to empower and inspire the community to minimize food wastage. Corporate social responsibility is at the heart of German Pool, and our ethos shares a kindred spirit with one of Food for Good’s messages: “Hong Kong is our home, everyone should act and care.” With a nod to this ideology, German Pool took part in “Chefs Against Food Waste” (名廚齊惜福), a Food for Good event which took place on Jan 4, 2014.

The event saw renowned Hong Kong chefs demonstrating eco-cooking techniques, with companies showing enthusiastic support for Food for Good. German Pool manifested our support in the set-up of a charity food stall, where German Pool Vice President Ms Karen Chan led a team to raise money by selling classic Hong Kong snacks priced at $10 per portion. All proceeds – without deduction of costs – were donated to Food for Good.

“Chefs Against Food Waste” saw an enthusiastic turn-out. German Pool prepared our menu (see above) using our stellar kitchen appliances: Halogen Cooking Pot, Professional High-Speed Food Processor, and Jet Steamer. We demonstrated the use of these appliances to fuse conscious eating with effortless cooking. We prepared a menu of low-fat grilled French fries, grease-free popcorn, steamed fish shao mai, freshly ground sweet sesame soup, sweet walnut soup, and freshly boiled ginger coca cola. Our popular and delicious menu proved a huge success, with items sold out within hours.

German Pool also demonstrated our 2014 new product, the Automatic Dough and Noodle Maker at this event. The Noodle Maker is a 2-in-1 solution to the complex affair of fresh noodle-making. Combining mixing, kneading, and cutting of noodles, the Noodle Maker is also blessed with a patented extrusion rod to maximize dough extrusion, reducing dough wastage to almost zero.

It takes time to impart greener eating and lifestyle habits. This event had been a successful small step in the big march of eco-eating, with German Pool manifested its belief in eco-friendliness and greener living. German Pool strives to give back by participating more charity events in the future. We will also continue to do what we do best in bringing boundary-breaking healthy, safe, user- and eco-friendly lifestyle appliances to all Hong Kong homes.
